What does it mean to be a member of Rooted Spirit Sanctuary?
What is Rooted Spirit Sanctuary all about?
Anyone over the age of 18 can become a member of Rooted Spirit Sanctuary. There are no requirements regarding beliefs, and no restrictions on membership in other religious or faith-based communities.
Members of Rooted Spirit Sanctuary show their continued commitment in multiple ways. We ask for regular engagement, whether financial, volunteer, or participation in Sanctuary events. We also require all members to sign a Covenant of Commitment each year, reaffirming their commitment to their spiritual path.
Members are invited to participate in retreats and other member-exclusive events at Rooted Spirit Sanctuary. Members are also eligible to become Board members, and have voting power in congregational meetings.
As a non-profit, Rooted Spirit Sanctuary relies on donations to continue existing in service. While no one will be denied membership due to lack of funds, we do provide flexible guidelines for membership donation amounts for those with the means.
Your first step will be to schedule a meeting with our minister. This meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know one another better. You will receive a copy of the Covenant of Commitment, which you can take home to review.
If you decide to move forward and become a member, you will sign the Covenant of Commitment and formalize your financial or energetic commitment to the Sanctuary.
Absolutely! Weekly Sanctuary is open to everyone. You can sign up for the weekly reminder emails at the link below.
All members are required to sign the Covenant of Commitment and Covenant of Confidentiality & Sacred Trust on an annual basis.
Rooted Spirit Sanctuary is a sacred space dedicated to the integration of ancient wisdom, earth-based spirituality, and embodied healing practices. We nurture holistic transformation through somatic practices, mindful presence, and community support, guiding individuals to awaken their deepest connection to Spirit, Body, and Earth. Our mission is to cultivate healing, resilience, and spiritual growth within a grounded sanctuary where all are welcomed and honored.
We envision a world where individuals live fully embodied and spiritually awake—rooted deeply in the earth’s wisdom and connected to the sacred rhythms of nature. Rooted Spirit Sanctuary seeks to be a beacon of healing, community, and spiritual awakening, fostering a compassionate and resilient society through the revival of ancient teachings and the integration of modern embodiment practices.

Rooted Spirit Sanctuary Ministries was founded in 2025 as the natural evolution of Haux (pronounced howsh) Gatherings.
Haux Gatherings was an organization created to promote healing in community. Run by Ladybug Larsen, Haux Gatherings facilitated weekly in-person integration circles, and provided counseling and support services for those on their healing journeys. Haux Gatherings also offered professional consultation to practitioners working in various healing spaces.
Ladybug’s (and thus Haux’s) work is/was influenced spiritually by principles in Buddhism—non-attachment, non-duality, compassionate practices—and practically by somatic and parts-work approaches to healing. Ladybug has also spent extensive time studying the earth-based indigenous practices of the Shipibo-Konibo in Peru and weaves that into their work. Hence, Rooted Spirit Sanctuary is a church which acknowledges that spirituality is interconnected with our Mother Earth and with this human experience—that spirituality can bring us deeper into our human-ness, and that the richer our human experience, the closer we can be to Divine.
Furthermore, from its inception, Haux Gatherings maintained a non-profit financial ethos. It catered to those with fewer resources and sought to make healing services accessible to all—regardless of financial situation. Haux Gatherings’s sliding scale model facilitated the creation of a Haux Scholarship Fund, which allowed for Haux to truly provide services to anyone.
Rooted Spirit Sanctuary Ministries formalizes this ethos by becoming a religious non-profit. Now truly an organization run by and for the community, Rooted Spirit Sanctuary relies entirely on donations, and its members have a say in how it is run.
More than that, not only are ministerial counseling services donation-based, but all donations made to Rooted Spirit Sanctuary are tax-deductible. It is in this way that we get to give back even more to the community.
We are so excited for you to join us on this evolution. And we are honored to continue finding ways to be of deeper and more impactful service.
